Explanation: In this sort of question you must treat the shaded
shape as something that moves around in either a clockwise or an
anticlockwise direction, obscuring the shapes underneath. In this
example the shaded shape is rotating in a clockwise direction. Its
starting position therefore is over the triangle.

Q4. Answer: A
Explanation: The number of shaded squares is decreasing by
three each step. The series starts with nine shaded squares and
decreases to six, then three and finally no shaded squares.

Explanation: A shape is removed each step, and the direction of
the shading in the shapes is moving in a clockwise direction. So
the circle is shaded first diagonally, then horizontally, then diagonally
again and finally vertically.

Q6. Answer: A
Explanation: Notice the large capital ‘L’ shape in the diagram. It
is rotating in a clockwise direction within the shape. The
diamonds are changing into squares and back again (alternating).
